Handy Hints: Chilli fingers

Everyone will have heard that after chopping a fresh chilli, it's best not to touch anything... delicate, shall we say. But that's about all we're told. How to avoid the horror and the burn once you've chopped and de-seeded this vehicle of fire? It's easy - just pour a little cooking oil over your fingers and rub. The oil draws away the chilli's juices. After rubbing in the oil, just soap off and you're good to go.
